Happy Halloween, Conceive Style

Written by Emily    Tuesday, 27 October 2009 09:26    PDF Print E-mail
Remember how much fun Halloween was when you were a kid? I loved picking out a costume. And the excitement come October 31 was almost too much for me to handle. After hitting up all the houses in the neighborhood I would dump everything out on the family room floor to see what goodies I had collected. (I was the type of kid who would ration my own candy in order to make it last for months!) Good times.

What to ExpectThere’s no shortage of getting-pregnant and pregnancy books out there on the market, but here’s a first: a guide for your unborn baby. Magic Numbers

Written by Beth    Friday, 25 September 2009 08:56    PDF Print E-mail
When I hit age 25 and wasn’t married yet, people started to ask me when I was “finally” going to get hitched. Then after I was married, they wondered when my husband and I  would finally have a baby. And the questions didn’t stop after my son was born (I was 38). They just switched to, “When are you going to have another?” One woman actually told me, when my son was still a baby, that I had to have another one, “because a couple with a child is just a couple with a child, but a couple with two children is a family.” That’s an awfully narrow definition, and one I don’t subscribe to at all.

Lather, Rinse, Repeat: Fertility-Friendly Body Products

Written by Emily    Thursday, 17 September 2009 00:00    PDF Print E-mail
If you're anything like me, then using as many all-natural body products as possible is important. I could stand in the bodycare aisle of a store for a good 30 minutes reading ingredients to make sure there are no crazy chemicals in my lotions, shampoos, face creams, etc. that could lead to fertility problems down the line.

Conceive's Book Notes

Written by Beth    Wednesday, 02 September 2009 08:03    PDF Print E-mail
There are two schools of thought when it comes to how much you want to read about or hear about or watch things related to what you’re actually doing in life. Translation: Some women who are trying to get pregnant can’t get enough of books and movies and songs about the subject, and others would rather entertain themselves with anything but.

Diaper Smelling, Belly Measuring, Baby Food Guessing—Oh My

Written by Emily    Tuesday, 25 August 2009 09:55    PDF Print E-mail
This past weekend I attended the baby shower of a family friend who is due in October. While it was perfectly lovely, I have to admit that I'm not a fan of the obligatory games forced upon us at every shower. When did this custom start, and do women really enjoy these things? Besides, I know that attending baby showers can be particularly difficult for women who are trying to get pregnant, so I'm pretty sure that playing goofy games is the last thing you want to be doing.
