A Beautiful Moment

Written by Infertile Naomi    Wednesday, 20 January 2010 13:20    PDF Print E-mail
When I first started my IVF cycle, I blogged that I “was one of those naïve people who believed that IVF would work on the first attempt.” And I was right. If only for a moment.

My IVF Story: Day 50 “The Embryo Transfer Tease”

Written by Infertile Naomi    Wednesday, 13 January 2010 11:29    PDF Print E-mail
We have been receiving daily updates about how our little guys are doing.

Removed: 12 eggs
Day one: 10 were good, 7 fertilized
Day two: 7 fertilized
Day three: 7 fertilized

My IVF Story: Day 47 “Embryo Retrieval Fun!”

Written by Infertile Naomi    Thursday, 07 January 2010 11:33    PDF Print E-mail
It’s the day I’ve been waiting for. It’s embryo retrieval day!

I always find it somewhat ironic that embryo retrieval stands for “ER.” Having the same initials as “emergency room” can’t make anyone feel comfortable. Embryo transfer or ET is much more relaxing as it also stands for one of my favorite movies: ET. ET, phone home.

My IVF Story: Day 45 “The Neurotic and the HCG Shot”

Written by Infertile Naomi    Monday, 04 January 2010 12:00    PDF Print E-mail
Current Drugs taken: HCG Trigger Shot
Mood: Feeling excited

Tonight is my trigger shot to make me ovulate. I will take this shot tonight at exactly 9:00 pm and will go for my embryo retrieval 36 hours later.

My IVF Story: Day 39 “Blood and Ultrasound

Written by Infertile Naomi    Friday, 18 December 2009 14:45    PDF Print E-mail
Current Drugs taken: Superfect & Puregon
Mood: Feeling fine but like a fertility drug addict

It’s a beautiful Sunday morning and I had planned to sleep in late and have a leisurely breakfast. That was my plan but in the world of infertility, your body dictates your schedule. Instead, I wake up at the crack of dawn, throw on some clothes and head to the fertility clinic for my morning blood and ultrasound appointment.

My IVF Story: Day 24 “Injection Fun!”

Written by Infertile Naomi    Friday, 11 December 2009 15:21    PDF Print E-mail
Current Drugs taken: Birth Control Pills & Superfect
Mood: Feeling awesome, relieved & bloated

You may have noticed that I skipped a few days. When you start IVF, you learn that IVF actually takes 4-6 weeks to completed. During most days, nothing much is happening. Just everyday, mundane normal activities which is great.

My IVF Story: Day 12 “I’m in Trouble”

Written by Infertile Naomi    Wednesday, 09 December 2009 09:06    PDF Print E-mail
Current Drugs taken: Birth Control Pills
Mood: Feeling awesome & bloated

I’m in trouble but in a very, very good way. I am one of those slightly naïve and positive people who actually believe that IVF will work for me on the first try.

My IVF Story: Day 5 “Pass Over Your Credit Card”

Written by Infertile Naomi    Monday, 23 November 2009 16:37    PDF Print E-mail
Current Drugs taken: Birth Control Pills
Mood: Feeling awesome!

My fertility nurse has asked us to come by and sign our consent forms and pre-pay our IVF & ICSI treatment. Sure! I’d be happy to pre-pay you thousands of dollars! Here is my credit card, my house and all our savings. Do you have a money back guarantee?

My IVF Story: Day 3 “Birth Control Begins”

Written by Infertile Naomi    Monday, 23 November 2009 15:03    PDF Print E-mail
In the infertility world, everything happens on a day 3.

My IVF Story: Day 1 “Help, I’m totally confused!”

Written by Infertile Naomi    Monday, 16 November 2009 11:48    PDF Print E-mail
Thanks for joining me on my first IVF adventure! I plan to document my first cycle so you can follow along, gasp in horror or learn what it’s really like to have IVF (with ICSI).

Here we go!
