The Baby Room Minus the Baby

Written by Infertile Naomi    Friday, 25 September 2009 14:51    PDF Print E-mail
I am sitting on my comfy couch in the comforts of my own home. Photos of deceased grandparents hang on the wall and the dust on my side table reminds me that I really need to clean. By all accounts, I am not sitting in my office, but a room that was originally designed to be my baby’s room. The crib and rocking chair have been replaced by books about infertility and a prescription for fertility medications.

The Mile High Club

I am on an airplane right now and writing about infertility.

I’m sure the man sitting next to me is enjoying reading about my cervical mucus and learning about my husband’s low (but strong) sperm count. A four hour flight gives anyone a lot of time to reflect on infertility and the long journey towards motherhood. The cabin lights dim, beverages are served and my mind begins to drift.

I Am Baby Obsessed

My husband tells me I’m too obsessed with becoming pregnant.  I’ll admit it. I do think about having a baby on a daily basis, I visit fertility sites regularly, I gawk at pregnant women and spend a lot of time blogging about my infertility adventures.

A Failed IUI

We failed our first fertility treatment.

I really hate to be a failure at anything, and like to succeed in most aspects of my life. So when we found out that our first IUI was a complete failure, it was a little hard to take. It’s much worse than failing a course subject in school. In school, there is room for improvement or your teacher might give you a better grade. In the infertility world, a failure is simply just a complete and utter failure.

The Infertile Game

Written by Infertile Naomi    Wednesday, 02 September 2009 07:54    PDF Print E-mail
I used to be plagued by a horrible case of the ‘what ifs’?   What if I never get pregnant? What if I’m still not pregnant by next year? What if the fertility procedure doesn’t work? What if I never have children?   It’s a terrible game, yet we all seem to play it over and over again in our heads.
